An iconic venue that attracts global superstars and vibrant crowds to the Welsh capital is to be given a fresh identity, thanks to an impactful new partnership with Utilita Energy.

Cardiff International Arena, the city’s largest purpose-built live music and events venue, will now be known as the Utilita Arena Cardiff.

The arena will give Utilita - the only firm of its kind to specialise in smart prepay energy - an established foothold in Wales.

This will allow the supplier to reach local communities and help thousands of households revolutionise the way they use energy, ultimately teaching them to spend less on their bills.

The company is renowned for using their partnerships as a force for good across the UK. Educating people with industry-leading advice through their multi-award-winning High 5 campaign is just one of the many ways Utilita can make a difference to regular people (see more on High 5 HERE).

Utilita’s charity partner, Utilita Giving, will also play a key part in the new deal, locally supporting those impacted by fuel and food poverty through fundraising, grants and expert advice.

Jem Maidment, Chief Marketing Officer at Utilita, said:

“It’s an absolute honour to see our name above the door to one of the UK’s greatest venues.

"As well as providing our customers here with fantastic opportunities to see some world-class shows, we will use this partnership to become a staple part of the local community.

“This isn’t just about the music, comedy, and performances – we want our presence to be felt through the crucial support that we, and our charity partner Utilita Giving, can offer.

“It seems our timing is apt, as recent data shows 55% of people in Wales believe their home isn’t energy efficient.

“Cardiff, we are really motivated to spread our support now that we are here, and we will make a difference.”

Utilita is no stranger to the live performance scene. The company is the naming rights partner at arenas in Newcastle, Birmingham and Sheffield, and has previously worked with music festivals including Parklife, Creamfields and Bestival.

“We’re delighted to welcome Utilita Energy as our naming rights partner for Cardiff International Arena," said Graham Walters COO, Live Nation "We're looking forward to working together to develop and strengthen new relationships in the city through this exciting new venture.”

Utilita customers should also keep an eye out for weekly ticket giveaways for some of the top shows the arena has to offer.

About Utilita Energy

●     Utilita is the UK’s only energy supplier created to help households use and waste less energy, by giving them better control via smart digital technology, including a multi-award-winning smartphone app.

●     Utilita specialises in Pay As You Go energy and smart metering. Utilita offers Smart PAYG+ - see ‘About the prepayment energy market’.

●     Thanks to having better control, Utilita customers use around 11% less energy than the average bill paying household.

●     Utilita was founded in 2003 by energy industry expert and conservationist Bill Bullen, the company’s CEO.

 ●     Utilita is the energy company of choice for 830,000* customers across the UK (*as of February 2022).

●     Utilita installed Britain’s first ever smart meter in 2005. In 2020, about 90% of its customers – the highest percentage of any UK supplier – have one installed.

●     Utilita’s free ‘My Utilita’ app is currently being used by 520,000 of its customers, who enjoy the benefits of instant top-ups and access to real-time energy usage data.

●     Utilita’s Energy High5 positive behaviour change campaign has so far reached an estimated four million households – educating the nation’s households on how we can all waste less energy and save hundreds of pounds by making five simple and free-of-charge adjustments to the way we use energy at home.

●          Utilita has 9 energy hubs across the UK giving face-to-face free energy-saving advice to all locals - not just customers. Utilita’s Energy Hubs can be found here.

●.    Utilita’s Football Rebooted campaign is now in its third year. This is a movement that allows anyone with spare boots to donate them and those requiring boots, including individuals, families, clubs or schools, can collect them.

There are now more than 400 donation points across the UK, found at stadiums, club stores and retail outlets, and thousands of boots have already been donated and claimed.

The need for the movement was made overwhelmingly clear by Utilita’s Price to Play report, commissioned in 2022, which showed that parents struggle to pay for football boots for their children.
